Puppy dog eyes.

Don’t worry–I’m not going to get all sappy or weirdly graphic about glances exchanged between husband and wife…

Just wanted to introduce you to the legitimate puppy dog eyes that have been greeting me every morning this week.

Say hello to Otis.

Generally speaking, I’m not really a dog person. I know, right–a girl who doesn’t love dogs? It’s like saying there’s a Nic Cage movie that doesn’t suck or a preteen who isn’t obsessed with Justin Bieber. Crazy (and atypical) but true. It’s not like I promote dog fighting or toss cats around just to test the land on all fours thing; I just don’t love animals. I see dogs and think money, responsibility, smelly breath, and hair, hair, everywhere. In that order. Oh, and I hate biting. Or nipping. Biting, nipping, it’s all the same to me.

All that to say, Jerry and I have been house/dog sitting this week and I have been very pleasantly surprised by this pooch. I now see why they say dogs are such smart little creatures, and so warm, cuddly, and loyal too. I don’t foresee myself going all dog crazy or anything, but I’ve edged closer to the pro-dog side of the animal meter and proven that I do have a smidge of the stereotypical girl dog-soft-spot.

I mean, who wouldn’t love the royal reception everytime you walk through the door? It does feel pretty good.

When I think of dogs, I think of unconditional love, loyal, cuddly, friendly, attentive, protective, sensitive, playful, walking partner, joyful greeter of the home, and on and on. I love dogs and can’t imagine my life without one. Love the picture of the one you are watching. So cute!

I like *your* dog (or, more correctly, someone else’s dog). I don’t want to take care of a dog but I totally get why people love having a creature around who is ALWAYS glad to see them coming. And that right there is one fine, fine dog.

One step closer to having a dog some day Lise. Otis is precious…great breed, too. I miss Lola…never thought I’d be saying that!

Haven’t heard Jer chime in ???

Ummmm. Whose dog was Ziggy?

7 Lisa { 02.24.11 at 8:49 am }

Technically, Ziggy was Adam’s dog…but we all know Adam hardly lifted a finger when it came to tending to him…so for all intents and purposes, he was my mom’s dog. He guarded her like a hawk!

Will do, Jenna! And PS. you friend’s secret play space sounds AMAZING! And see, it stuck with you for all these years. While I know kids can have a million toys and still love banging on a pot the most, pot-banging doesn’t stick with them forever, the way secret rooms would! :)

don’t worry, they make dogs that don’t shed! Beans is one of those. And MY goodness, walking in the door to a dog whose tail is wagging faster than you’d ever imagine possible because he is SO excited to see you is PRICELESS. I was totally not a dog person…and then beans came into my life. LOOOOVe him. He is barking right now – he must know I’m talking about him. :)

I have an “Otis” for you. He is small and will fit perfectly in the Logan house. He doesn’t shed. I will slip him into your bag the next time you come to visit…

Lisa, I was totally you before our dog. I liked them just fine, but the ideas of the expense, sleep deprivation, hair, and basically the overall responsibility…I was good without it. My husband, however, was not to be deterred and we got Lucy after I ignorantly agreed to go with him “just to look” (famous last words) at an adoption event. They told us we would be perfect for a lab (no kids makes them think we have time and money…) and I couldn’t say “no thanks, we don’t want that ball of fluff”.
Now, I could care less – I keep telling Kurt “this MUST be what it’s kind of like when you become a Mom…minus the fur and biting thing”. OK this is long, but you get the point! :) Have fun with Otis! (great name, totally)
