The Casting Dock

now THAT was the weekend I needed.

It’s amazing how much the weather affects people’s moods.

Lovely spring weather opens up so many more opportunities of fun, FREE things to do; it connotes summer, and with it, abundant warmth, free time, and relaxation; and it serves as a reminder that even the harshest winters of life won’t last forever, that the spring WILL come, even if some days it feels infinitely far away.

This weekend, with its burst of spring weather, was the exact capper to a long and exhausting week that I needed: quality time with the husband, a little tossing around the baseball with friends, dinner with one of my favorite couples, a rousing game of speedball (the season is upon us again(!)…it’s a combo soccer/ultimate frisbee game that sounds weird, but is actually a ton of fun!), morning church, successful errand-runs, “sleeping in” yet still being awake and well-rested at 7am with the entire day before you, lots and lots of desserts (including that lovely summery trifle) and a new favorite pizza place. All in all, a five star affair.

Though, I must say, as one new to the full-time working world, the 5-2 ratio ain’t really working for me. I need just one more day. Maybe I’ll petition the teacher’s union…

I’m going to take a gander the skirt if from JCrew? Also, I did receive your e-mail AND started a reply…I’m not usually this bad, I promise. I DID get the job, but I did NOT take it – for some of the reasons you suspected. Maybe I will just start living vicariously through your blog, skirt, job, and all…especially the Trader Joe’s part too. GAH.

I second Lisa’s high praise of this past weekend. It. Was. Majestic. I think Lis ate the leftover pizza and I ate the leftover trifle today hoping to catch a final taste of the weekend, but alas, it has now passed.

I also strongly second Maggy’s high praise of Lisa’s outfit in that picture above. What a looker, y’all!

“It’s a trifle. It’s got all of these layers. First, there is a layer of lady fingers. Then, a layer of jam. Then, custard — which I made from scratch! Then cranberries, more lady fingers, then beef sauteed with peas and onions, more custard, and then bananas, and then I just put some whipped cream on top.” – Rachel Green, “Friends”, circa 1999.
