Just Bee Generous

I came across Just Bee Generous last night and I love the simple mission. It’s all about random acts of generosity done with no agenda, no expectation of receiving anything in return. Being generous just for the sake of being generous: paying for the person behind you in the fastfood line, leaving a random $5 starbucks giftcard taped to the gas pump for the next person who rolls through, dropping off your kids’ old toys on the doorstep of a house full of kids. Annonymous giving. With each little act of generosity, you leave a Just Bee Generous card which explains the JBG mission and asks the next person to pay it forward.

We all could use a little more giving, a little more receiving, and a little more joy from both giving and receiving. I ordered my JBG cards this morning (they’re free, of course!) and am already plotting ways to use them. I love the idea of involving kids in the process too and teaching them the joy and importance of no-strings-attached giving. I hope these little Generous Bees take the country (and the world) by storm. A good storm, for once….yeah, we could all use that, I think.

I think I may have been the facial model for that bee-guy in their logo (if a centaur is half-man-half-horse, what do you call a half-man-half-bumblebee?).

This idea reminds me of that Coca-Cola commercial from the Super Bowl a few years back (yes, this is a shameless plug for my favorite American company):

JBG is a great idea. I am excited to steal some of these JBG cards from Lis and pay it forward myself.

Jerry – I think you’re right about being the facial model. I definitely see the resemblance!

Lisa – Just added it to my list to order the cards today. What fun!!

Just this morning I was trying to be generous with your mother in law by giving her a 130 pound fluffy blond golden-doodle puppy for an early birthday present. She rejected my generosity…

oooooohhhhh I love it.
In college we did this with my friends. I can’t remember what the card said, but it was a cute little phrase about God’ love… I had been thinking about doing it with Netcast again.
I ordered my cards too. So excited! :)

Ps. See Lisa, now we can not feel guilty about buying the $100 dress. JK JK JK. haha.

Such a great idea! Originated by God but expressed in such creative ways!

Ms. Terri, if you strap one of these “Just Bee Generous” cards to that golden-doodle puppy, she’ll have no choice but to accept it.
