The Casting Dock

have I mentioned that I’m in love with c.s. lewis?

The man’s got about 371 quotes that cut right to the heart.
To inspire, to convict, to enlighten, to make a complex idea seem elementary–he’s got a little something up his sleeve for every occasion. Plus, he’s British and brilliant.
I’ve got a little crush going on over here.

CLIVE. The crush is mutual. I think I’ve dried up several pens with all the underlining and annotating I’ve done in my Lewis books.

And speaking of crushes, look at that dress, folks. One of my favorite Lis ensembles.

Love that quote. I hear many quotes by CS since my son has the same crush on him as you and your hubby. Mr. Lewis was such an astute man!

Great picture of you!

Great quote. Great picture of you. Just for the record it was taken in beautiful Kauai.

Speaking of…

I was talking to my main man in Utah tonight, and he implored me to check out his school’s admissions page to see a publicity picture that had him buzzing. The picture, he said, shows a girl studying on the grass with her back to the camera. He liked the girl. ‘A picture of some girl’s back on the grass?’ I wondered. But I went to his site to take a look. Yep. Good call, Mr. May.

I wish one of my friends would move to Amsterdam so that I could call him ‘my main man in Amsterdam.” Everyone my age who possessed any degree of cool in 94 probably wishes for this as well.

Happily, the tiny amount of cool that I had back in the 90s faded long ago.

Which reminds me, on which post did I make my Star Trek comment? The one about Kirk, Picard and the Nexus?

One last thing. When I mentioned ’94, I was referencing the most influential film of that year, especially for young cinephiles. This movie featured another line that caught my fancy at the time, a line I later adapted for my own purposes. Perhaps there are others that recall it. Here’s the line…

Spoken like a true prodigy. How about you, Lash LaRue? You think you can keep your spurs from jinglin’ and janglin’?

Can’t believe that was 17 years ago.
