Christmas in the Big Apple

I am obsessed with my college roommate’s apartment in Manhattan. It is one of the few living spaces in the developed world that makes my shoebox apartment seem luxuriously spacious, buuuuut what it lacks in square footage it more than makes up for in character and functional livability. The “living” area is actually a decent size for Manhattan (with an exposed brick wall and old fire place….yesssss) and her bed is lofted in the affectionately titled “treehouse” above the bathroom, which makes the old wooden ladder (momentarily propped against the adjacent wall in that photo) not only adorable but necessary and functional. And in case you all have forgotten, I. LOVE. LADDERS. in the home. Oh, I just adore this place. My pictures do not do it justice.

But I digress….

So Friday afternoon college roommate #1 (Steph) and I sprinted down to the Big Apple to see college roommate #2 (Julie) at the aforementioned object-of-my-desire Upper East Side apartment where we also met up with another one of our former apartmentmates, Lauren. We wanted to see Julie, catch a little whirlwind tour of NYC at Christmas, and enjoy some quality girl time. We browsed Christmas markets, did a little shopping, meandered about the city to drink in all of the festive decorations, checked out some new (to me) dinner joints, and mostly just soaked up quality conversations and uplifting time together. Steph and I headed out on Saturday night so it really was a quick trip, but I am so thankful for the time to both catch up on the past and make new memories in the present.

While I am uber appreciative of my husband and could not be more pleased, proud, and inspired by the person I chose as my partner for life, a solid girlfriend fulfills a role unique to anyone else,…even my super supportive, (pretty) emotionally-in-tune husband. I am so lucky that I have multiple such girlfriends. And while most of them live scattered about the country, this weekend brought three of them under one (adorable!) roof in one glorious city. A splendid turn of events, indeed. And the perfect way to formally kick off the week of Christmas.

It was nice to see you all together again….you all look great… and the apartment screams of character and charm…like it’s tenant.
