The Casting Dock

Christmas in Texas

This year was one of my favorite Christmases to date. It was a leisurely, low-key day, there was no family squabbling, everyone helped out in both the pre-meal prep and the post-meal clean-up (a rarity in my household), the food spread (prime rib, baked shrimp, mashed potatoes, etc.) was delicious, and my mom managed to pick out a couple clothing items for me which I genuinely like. She puts forth a valiant effort every year and despite my loving (but honest!) head nods of disapproval resulting in multiple return trips every year, she refuses to give up the quest. This year, it paid off–she picked a winner! A cute little cashmere sweater that I actually really like. I’ll have to take a picture of it to post. I’m secretly hoping she’ll take her victory in stride and hang up those shopping shoes, choosing instead to go out on top this year, with a bang. But something tells me she’ll be back in the saddle next year, with receipts in hand…She loves the hunt–there’s no stopping her.

Way to go Noche!!! Glad to see your persistence paid off. Lisa – the pictures are great – as usual. Can’t wait to see you in a couple weeks!

Sounds like fun was had by all! I wish I had a chance to see you while you were here but time just flew by. You are right…your mom loves to shop and thrives on a good hunt! I don’t think she will ever hang up the well-worn shopping shoes!
